La Farga Foundation

Transcending by promoting education and culture

La Farga Foundation was created in 2004 with the mission of creating value and wealth in its surrounding areas. Since then, it has supported educational, social and cultural initiatives. In June 2017, it integrated the Josep Moncusí Private Foundation.

For this reason, its scope of action is focused on its staff, children of staff and members of La Farga’s business family, the counties of Osona, Ripollès and Moianès and, more specifically, in the municipalities of Les Masies de Voltregà and Sant Joan de les Abadesses.

Areas of the initiatives

Social sphere

It plays an active role in the social sphere, through donations, sponsorships, prizes and collaborations on activities in Les Masies de Voltregà and the counties of Osona.

Cultural sphere

Within the cultural sphere, the Copper Museum was opened in 2008. A unique platform within Europe that outlines, in a technical, educational and experiential way, the properties, historical importance and applications of copper in the past, present and future.

Educational sphere

In the educational sphere, it allocates part of its funds through study grants for the education of the business family, staff, and children of staff of La Farga and residents in Les Masies de Voltregà and Sant Joan de les Abadesses. Each category has a call for applications, terms and its own budget.

La Farga Foundation enjoys one of the great treasures of La Farga, the building that houses the Copper Museum. The same building that the founding family enjoyed during summer, and whose walls are now home to many mementos and a lot of effort. An effort that has defined the destiny of many generations and an entire region.

The board of trustees is the main governing body of La Farga Foundation and is responsible for its administration and representation with different organisations and institutional events.

Its functions include programming activities and allocating funds. The board of trustees is currently made up of 7 people:

La Farga Foundation is based at the Museum of Copper, which is closely linked to the history of La Farga and the Foundation itself. The building was built between 1918 and 1920 at the request of Josep Lacambra who, during the extension of the company’s facilities, decided to build a chalet for his family on the road leading to the factory.

Years later, the family home underwent a renovation in a collaborative project with the University of Vic to turn it into the current Museum of Copper while preserving its original modernist style architectural design.
