Educational offer

The Copper Museum offers to educational professionals lesson plans and guided tours to learn about different aspects of the world of copper.

Through visits, tailored to the academic standards of primary, secondary, high school, vocational training and university groups, students can acquire knowledge of copper and its manufacturing process and the operating of a metallurgical factory.

Our educational programs combine the guided tour of the museum and factory with additional activities to learn and study in a fun, educational manner.

Our educational offer consists of:


  • The guided tour of the museum and factory: a guide will accompany school groups to provide a guided tour of the museum's collection and the company La Farga. The visit includes the museum and the walkway.
  • Support and teaching resources for the visit: the museum's permanent exhibition contains modules that encourage interaction between the guide and the students and the proximity of students to the collection and to copper. Empathy games, participative questions or an explanation of mythological tales are just some of the resources used during the visit.
  • Educational material for use in the classroom: teachers will be provided with resource materials to prepare for the visit to the museum and a dossier of exercices tailored to each level of education. Each one includes specific activities on the museum and on copper.

In order to present our offer we have developed a teaching dossier.


  • Elementary students may know copper through games, experiments ,workshopsand stories during their visit to the Museum. You will discover what is copper, its origins, its uses, its qualities and alloys or as has been used to make coins. In addition they will have the opportunity to visit inside the La Farga factory and see the copper production process.

    The primary teaching dossier details the visit and activities adapted to each cycle of primary education. Teachers will have at their disposal a specific dossier with activities on the knowledge acquired during the visit.

  • With his visit, high school students can take the copper Museum and discover their uses, alloys, Nomenclatures, properties, as well as the origins of metallurgy, the recycling of copper or the lost-wax process. Then they will visit La Farga factory through the Gateway will look closely where the copper production process.

    The teaching dossier details the visit and activities adapted to the compulsory secondary education. Teachers will have at their disposal a specific dossier with activities on the knowledge acquired during the visit.

    Prat de La Riba project

    The copper Museum is part of the Prat de La Riba project, driven by growth, to encourage students of secondary to choose technological or scientific discipline as a profession for the future.

  • High school students They may visit the Museum of copper and know its discovery, extraction and exploitation, uses, properties, alloys and nomenclatures, the process of recycling copper, its relationship with the magnetism, the lost-wax process as well as meet the Ramsden machine. They will then visit the La Farga factory to see closely the functioning of a metallurgical plant and the production process of copper.

    The teaching dossier details the visit and activities adapted to the academic level of secondary education. Teachers will have at their disposal a specific dossier with activities on the knowledge acquired during the visit.

  • Vocational training and universities students will have the opportunity to visit the factory of La Farga and see up close the production process of copper. Through an aerial footbridge crossing facilities of the colony, may see one of the wire drawing plants and see live process des that melts the copper to the end product, as for example, the catenary of the train. You will also see the buildings of the former workers, the square and the belfry of the Church.

    In addition, they will have the opportunity to visit the copper Museum, unique in Europe, for the discovery of copper, their extraction and exploitation, as well as the process of recycling, its properties, alloys and nomenclatures.
